The student's row lights up on the teacher's board the same second. Siblings with the same dismissal time are checked in with one link and one tap.

A live board for today: every student in their class, attendance status, who has arrived (by guardian name, with the check-in time) and who has been released. Arrivals appear instantly over a push stream, with an optional sound, browser notification and a spoken announcement of the student's name. One tap marks the student picked up and records who released them.

Anyone on the live board presses "Parent here" and picks the guardian. The arrival is recorded in that guardian's name, marked as logged by the staff member, and written to the audit log, so the record is complete even when a parent has no phone with them.

"Dismiss now" opens check-in immediately for a whole classroom or a single student and emails every guardian who may pick up. It works for early release days, weather dismissals and a parent who calls ahead. Pressing it again extends the window and re-sends to anyone who has not checked in.

Yes. The homeroom teacher, staff or an administrator marks each student present or absent on the same live board. Only students marked present are dismissed that day, so reminder emails, "Dismiss now" and parent check-in all skip a student who is absent. Every student has a report with attendance rate, on-time versus late pickups and average wait after the bell over the last 30, 60 or 90 school days.

Most schools are running the same day. Create the school, add grades with their dismissal times, then paste a CSV of students and guardians or add them by hand. Teachers get an emailed invite. Drawing the pickup geofence on the satellite map in Settings takes a couple of minutes. There is no hardware, no app rollout to families and no training session to schedule.

Check-in links are sent only to guardians the school office has on file with the "can pick up" flag. Each check-in is tied to one named guardian, verified by phone location, and shown to the teacher before the student is released. Every release records who picked up which student and when. PickupLink puts the school's own records between the pickup line and the classroom door; the school still makes every release decision.

PickupLink stores only the roster data the school gives it (student name, grade, classroom, guardians and pickup records) and uses it solely to run dismissal for that school. Accounts are created for adults only; students never sign in and no data is collected from children. Schools remain the owners of their data. Our Terms of Service describe our obligations; email us for a data-privacy agreement or a security questionnaire.

Teachers see their own students; office staff and administrators see the whole school. Parents see only their own children. The app operator's console is audited: every impersonation is logged with who, when and why.

To confirm you are actually at the school before your child is brought out. The location is checked once when you tap "I'm here" and is not tracked afterwards. If your phone reports a position outside the pickup area, the page shows a map of where it thinks you are so you can see why.

One tap covers every child of yours with the same dismissal time. Children at different times, or at different schools, each get their own link.

Tell the staff member at the pickup line; they press "Parent here" on the board and your arrival is recorded in your name. You can also sign in any time at the parent sign-in page with the email your school has on file to get a fresh link.

Prices in this category range from a few hundred dollars a year for small web-based tools to several thousand dollars per school per year for app-based safety platforms, and many vendors do not publish pricing.
